Install porblem on Sony Cybershot DSC-s50

Hi,

Hope someone out there can help!

I am trying to install this camera on Win2000, I have downloaded the drivers and installed them, restarted my machine and then connected the camera. It trys to install but I get a message saying...
'Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard

Sony DSC

An error occured during the installation of the device

The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device.'

Has anyone got any clues of how to get this to install properly?

You say you have connected the camera after you installed the drivers. You should try to connect it before you install them. Therefore, uninstall the drivers and restart, then connect the camera. When the prompt for 'device detected' appears, close it, and then install the drivers while the camera is connected. I think that since your camera was not connected during install, your computer did not copy the correct (or maybe any) drivers into their locations.

Usually you should connect usb devices before you install drivers for them.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry meant to say I had downloaded drivers before installlation, not installed them!

I uninstalled everything and started again. I got hold of the drivers for Win2000 and removed the Win98 drivers, as I worked out this was wrong too. The camera appears to install ok, but when I go into control panel>cameras and scanners nothing appears. Also when I try to connect to the camera through photosuite it also fails, so I don't think the camera is installing correctly?
