How do I install MetaFrame without FR2?

My FR2 / SP2 CD gives me the option to install FR2 or install MetaFrame SP2 without FR2. Whichever option I choose, the install wizard says that it is going to install FR2 and it does. Am I missing a command line option or something? I kick off autorun.exe from within add/remove programs. Is there a better way of doing this?

Also the download on the Citrix Site says that you can do this, but this just contains the same stuff as my CD

Before anyone roasts me for not wanting FR2, I have a few good reasons at the moment, but I don't want to get into that argument at present :)

Darn, I hate it when I find the answer 5 minutes after I post the question.

In the Metaframe_XPFR2_Guide.pdf on page 106, it says that FR2 will be installed on a clean system whichever option you use.

OK, just curious but...How do they determine if a system is a clean system?

The way I understood it, "Feature Release's" have always been installed with a Service Pack no matter what. But would not be active until you installed a license for that FR version. Is that still True? Dave Namou, MCSE CCEA

I assume that the setup utility is looking for somthing in the registry and/or the presence of certain files.

In my experience, what happens is that the feature release gets installed and the server moans about not having any licences for it until you install them.

dammit, I've done it again. >:-<

If you right-click on the server in the MMC, you can set the Feature Release level. Maybe it defaults to the latest FR unless you go back and change it.

It does, indeed default to the latest FR. This is a

A "Clean" system is one without MetaFrame on it. Peculiar terminology, but there you are. FR2 is a complete installation of MetaFrame in itself, so checks to see if there are any components already on the system.

The Feature Release components are only made active with the licenses, and if you install just the Service Pack, then the FR level is not adjusted. The FR components only work once the license has been added.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
