Hi Guys,

I have a problem about Livelink access & permission. The user has been granted access to modify but when opening a document, it requested to install Livelink Edit Control.

Is there any relation with browser setting or ActiveX component (fyi, we use IE6 as a browser)? Do you have any idea?

The LLEdit control is an ActiveX control, so they will need to configure the browser to allow them to download it and also to allow them the rights on the local machine to install it, the other option would be to install Livelink Explorer instead of purely the LLEdit control.

Instead of downloading it you can deploy it via Group Policy etc if the users do not have permissions to do so etc.

we always used to push it using an msi.OT KB has the same file as an msi as well. Our help desk had a self elevation scheme, which allows non local admins on the box temporarily some access. This would allow them to run the msi pack.Like Greg said if a lot of people have livelink explorer then this is not necessary as llexplorer overrides the activex behaviour as well

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Thanks Greg & Appnair!

Actually, we haven't used Livelink Explorer for all users yet, just for some document controllers. Do you have the link to the msi file on OT KB so that I can download and push it to users who have problems with this LLEdit Control?

I think I would get it here.
"Open Text Office Editor MSI Install Package" can be accessed via the following link:
The same cab file is in the support directory of your livelink. That is how it gets downloaded when people request it.
