Long winded....

I have a customer with a BCM 400 4.0. We want to install a i2004 at a users home office to answer ACD calls. I need some help.
I understand we need a VPN to work correctly but I glaze over at IP addressing VPN connections. Here are some of my many questions and background info.

There is a public IP address that sends the traffic to the LAN1 IP address (10.10.1.XX) from the router. What ports need to be opened?

The remote user has a WRT54G router at home. They connect their PC via VPN to the data server in the office via a different public ip. The router has VPN pass through. Can the i2004 be pointed to the public ip and connect to the VPN from the BCM? (This seems like a really damning question showing my ignorance). What ip address would I give the i2004.

In the BCM what IP address range should I use in the address pool? The office LAN range or some other range? Do I need a pool?

In the remote user tunnel what static IP should I use?

If anyone has a doc with this info, it would be greatly appreciated. Any or all answers welcome. Punting is not an option for me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Generally speaking, you will require UDP 7000 to 7002 opened up. Also the UDP range 20000-20255.

If the IP Phone is on a VPN, then make the IP address the same as the BCM published IP address (Usually LAN1) If it's not on a VPN, Then give it the Routers WAN address that the BCM 400 is connected with.

Many years ago I used a i2004 off our BCM200 at work. I installed a VPN router and setup my login and password. We were getting our dialtone and data through a Cisco IAD router so I had to open port 1723 in the Cisco and forward it to the VPN router's IP address.

At home I installed a second LAN card in my PC and bonded it to the primary LAN. Then it was just a matter of connecting to the VPN and pointing the i2004 at the Cisco's public IP address. I'm sure there are easier ways, but this setup worked well for me and the owner.
