I have Crystal Reports 10 and a FileMaker Pro 6 database and Win2000 but am unable to use this database as a data set which is located on the local drive. I can however, export to a .DBF file and report on that, but .DBF only accepts the first 10 characters for the field name. This is causing problems when field names in FileMaker have the same first 10 chars. What steps are involved in Database Expert to get FileMaker in the list? I believe the answer is in Control Panel...Admin tools... Data sources (ODBC) but am unable to get it to work.

Any helpis greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Filemaker has an ODBC driver.

When you're in the ODBC sources (I'd be more specific, but the look and feel differs depending upon your OS, which you didn't share), select the System DSN tab and select Add. Locate the ODBC driver for Filemaker, and set it up to use the database of interest.

Now in Crystal's Database Expert select Create New Connection and point to ODBC (RDO) and select the DSN that you just created above.
