Symposium express. tried to install crashed the pc during install. tried to reinstall after got the machine back up ,Now i get a message Symposium Client already installed please uninstall first. But there is no UNINSTALL! no uninstall exe anywhere, no uninstall in control panel add/remove programs. Any ideas? Cant reformat machine.

Deleting this is really a pain. This is what I remember doing.

1. Got start-run and type regedit. Search for nortel, normat, sybase and symposium. Delete all of these keys.

2. Delete the ase12clt folder. It is under nortel under progam files. Delete the nortel folder also.

3. Reboot machine. When pc comes back up make sure ase12clt is still gone.

4. Re-install

If anybody has a better procedure then this please let me know.

yea i was thinking that.. there are a bunch of registry entries i was hoping i didn't have to do that.

Thanks.

If it is client you are trying to unistall - you need to get the sybase out. There are instructions in the Nortel Installation documents. If possible you might save time re-imaging the pc from scratch.

the install failed before it even got to the sybase section, so there was nothing to remove. I did end up having to search through the registry and delete anything that said symposium, rebooted and took the install again. But there where like 150 references to symposium, so it sucked.

Sorry to hear that. In my experience, the install usually fails during the Sybase portion.
