Hi,
I have connected a tape (Scsi HP Ultrium 460) on a Solaris
system and put it on , prtconf shows the line "tape (driver not attached)". How can I install/configure the tape to use it. Thanks for help.
Djessi

Hi Djessi, see if the system configures it when you run devfsadm -c tape (man devfsadm for details). It should add an entry in /dev/rmt if successful.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

If what Ken suggested doesn't work then go to the ok prompt and do a probe-scsi-all to see if the drive is seen at the hardware level.

DJESSI;

THIS TAPE UNIT NEEDS TO BE DEFINED IN /KERNEL/DRV/ST.CONF
IF THERE IS NO ENTRY FOR THE ULTRIUM 460 THE OS WILL NOT LOAD DRIVERS OR RECOGNIZE THE TAPE UNIT. YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK AROUND THE WEB TO FIND CORRECT ENTRIES FOR THE TAPE UNIT.

THANKS

CA
