I am trying to install 5.0.6 on an EISA-SCSI machine. During bootup with the diskette,
I see msgs saying no root disk controller found. And when I try selecting the install
media, I get a msg saying the host adapter can't be found. The aha2740t is supported
and is included in the boot floppy. The driver is arad.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

At boot specify the driver. Should be covered in the manual. Haven't seen 6 but will check in 5 and follow up later today.

Only found the adapter= possible replacement for the Sdsk.
Thought that I had seen something on SCO forum on compuserve in the past but I can't find any printed stuff to relate to it so it may be a figment of my imagination. And you may want to go to SCO help pages to see if there is anything there.
Sorry I'm no more help.

I opened a bug report with SCO.

Last nite I tried specifying the adapter, disabling the driver and still no luck. So I
had this freebie I got several years ago at a trade show in DC that had 5.0.0 on it.
I put it into the old 486 and up it came! It recognized the adapter and both channels
and their addresses!

This is really piss'n me off now! I have had the same luck with RED HAT and
SuSe linux, old stuff works, new stuff is screwed.

If I had thought about it I would have given you an alternative. 5.0.5 boot is broken (BTLD section) so I have to use a boot from 5.0.4 to get 5 to handle some SIIG controllers. I have made the boot and initial load from 4 but use the 5 CD. You could probably have done the same with 6.
Good luck on the bug report. They've never acknowledged the 5 boot problem. Like a black hole out there.
