The DDS2 Tape drive on my IBM F50 AIX 4.3 box is broken. I have a DDS3 Tape drive that I would like to install. What is the proper way to do this? Do I need driver for AIX 4.3 to recognized the DDS3 drive? Please give detail instruction to swap out the DDS2 and install the DDS3. What configuration if any, I needed to run.

TIA.

TIA,

This is a very simple process...

1. rmdev -dl rmtX (x = the RMT# of your DDS2)

2. physically remove the drive from your system

3. install the new DDS3 Drive.

4. issue the following command: cfgmgr -v

5. lsdev -Cc tape

Enjoy!

Frankie,
Thank you for your help. What does cfgmgr -v and isdev -Cc tape do? Also, I do not need the driver for the DDS3 tape drive on AIX v4.3?

thanks.
