I currently run netbackup 3.4 on Solaris 2.5 I've decided to upgrade to solaris 8 on a new disk and do a fresh install of 4.5. If I copy over the Netbackup Databases to the new version is that it?
I understand xnb has been dropped in this version. I used to run this from my NT box. I think I need the windows remote java console but that does not seem to come with the UNIX netbackup software. How do I get it - and the Windows client software?

The databases are different in 4.5. In 3.4 they are Ascii format in 4.5 they are binary. There is a conversion tool, but I wouldn't use it as it can create problems. Just take a copy to another area of disk.

The only time I would use the conversion is if you have long retention periods.

Use the windows client that should be on the install cd

I used the conversion tool ...
cat_convert -a2b -o

And had NO problems at all. Everything converted from ASCII to Binary without a hitch.
