the DDS4 is not listed
help me please

hi,
I try to give general information about
install standard DEVICES on AIX.

- shutdown box ( sometime not need )
- connect devices or insert card ( net, scsi...)
- fire , login as root
- smitty cfgmgr ( smitty devices / conf.dev. added after...)
- choose /dev/cd0 in field input...
- put CD #1 of AIX in cdrom
- press Enter.

Looking at smitty output, you can see if additional device
driver will be unloaded from CD-rom

- check Maintenance level:

oslevel -r ( from Maintenance level >= 9 )
or instfix -i | grep AIX

- run again maintanance level ( smitty update_all )
if new driver has benn addedd and it have to be corrected.

bye

If the 4mm tape drive is a 2 or 4 GB tape drive, Run smitty tape, Add a Tape Drive, select the appropriate tape drive type. We have IBM 7206 005 tape drives and use 4mm4gb as the drive type.
