Inspect HTTP vs. Fixup HTTP

I have a PIX 515E and recently upgraded the OS to version 7. All worked well except applications that have a web based update feature (like Windows Update) would no longer function correctly. I turned off Inspect HTTP and these things work again.

I remember reading something about this a few months ago, long before I upgraded the OS, but can no longer find the information.

Clearly, inspect http and fixup http from prior versions are very different. Any ideas on how to run inspect HTTP so that it will not break web based updating?

Thanks very much,

Steve W.

I'm told by Cisco pix tech support that this is a known bug (at least in 7.1.2) that will be getting fixed. Their solution, as you figured out, is to turn off Inspect HTTP.
