I want to insert a technical paper from Word 97 into Publisher 98. Unfortunately, the paper has numerous equations which do not import as part of a text import. If I link the document as an object, I can't automatically flow onto multiple pages like I can with linked text boxes. Is there an easy way to do this? Upgrade? [sig][/sig]

Could you give us an example of some of the text that refuses to import (an equation)? There may be a way to do it without upgrading, which probably wouldn't help much, anyway.

Have you tried copying the contrary text to the clipboard and then pasting it into the Pub text boxes? Publisher can be a bit qwirky about what it likes to import.

My wild guess is that the equations are purely graphical and that you may end up with multiple text boxes mingled with graphics. There goes the hopes for autoflow! Thanks for your message.

Yes, I have tried all copying the contrary equation to the clipboard and pasting it. Publisher recognnises it as a graphics box, which is Ok except that if I use the text autoflow for the body of the paper, I have to keep moving the equations to the right place every time the text resizes.

I have thought of trying to create the equation as text instead of using the equation editor. This would potentially work, except that I have 50 equations in one paper, and some of them are horribly complicated.

I have ended up upgrading to Publisher 2000 for other reasons, and the text file import feature still doesn't bring in equations.

I am inclined to agree with you that my hopes for autoflow are gone. I am now thinking I will have to format the document in Word to look the way I want it to, and then paste a link into Publisher. A bit ugly, but it should work. [sig][/sig]
