I have a pm 6.5 document with various tables from pm table 3.0 but now am unable to export the document to pdf because of a problem with "links". how do i properly link the tables within the pm 6.5 document so that i can properly export to pdf? thanks.

I assume you must have moved, renamed or deleted one or more of the tables. Since the tables in Table3.0 are actually OLE objects, they have to be intact to export to PDF.

If the tables are all intact, there are other options that may work for you. I try not to Export to PDF as it often results in corrupted documents. Try printing to file, and then using distiller to make the PDF. If you still get errors, I found this great free program that seems to work fine with OLE objects in PM docs. It is at and when installed it acts like a printer. You print to the pdf995 printer and it creates a PDF much faster than PM's export option. And to boot, it works with other programs, not just PM.

hope this helps

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Julia,

You've hit a problem I encountered only two days ago. I had been placing Tables into a PM6.5 publication full of Illustrator line diagrams (EPS format) and text. As you noted it wouldnt export a PDF file. I tried one solution (similar to that suggested by viol8ion), and attempted to print to PDF (a shareware program called PrintToPDF) which does a quick and dirty job of outputing a PDF - fine for text but not very good with complex diagrams. However, since PM6.5 exports a nice high-quality PDF, I prefer to get it working if possible. After much fiddling about, I discovered that PM6.5 prefers it if you export the graphics from Adobe Table 3.0 as PICT files rather than EPS. Once I changed this (and fortunately I didnt have too many tables to change!), I could readily export to PDF.

AS an aside, I found that Illustrator eps files seem to work best if exported (for PM6.5)as level 1 postscript rather than level 2 or 3
