Sorry to be a pain again ... but I have another question.

I created a layout and set it all up with the correct fields. Now I realised I want to include another one of the fields into that layout.

This isnt on the original page where all the information is originally entered, I know how to do that (insert > field). But this is bringing information from that page and displaying it in another layout that has already been previously created with alocated fields.

How do I go about this? I went through the toolbars and I cant find anything.

I'm sure there is a very simple solution to this, but I am very new to FMP so please bear with me :)

you have to define a new field before you can use it on a layout. File-->Define Fields...
than insert it on your layout. Layout is just a designing tool...it is a visual representation (and more) of your Database fields! You do not "create" anything in the dabase by making a new layout...
all the best!

As I read your post it didn't sound to me like creating a new field was what you wanted to do. If I understadn you correctly, you have an existing field that you want to place on an existing layout. If this is the case, then read on.

In the layout mode, be sure to toggle the side tool bar to show. One of the options there is FIELD. Drag this where you want to place the new field. Let go with your mouse and a dialog box opens displaying all of the existing fields in your database. Select the field you want this to become. Note on the bottom of the dialog is an option to have the field named for you. If you have friendly field name, you may use this. Many desginers opt to create their own field labels. We use c_fieldname for example to group calculation fields together, or g_fieldname to identify a global field. So to let the program create the label is extra work.

Any field you create can be placed on as many layouts as you would like as many times as you would like. You have no design limits here. When you create your fields and they are first placed on your layout by the program is not where they have to stay. Drag, move, delete or add new ones anytime any place.

I hope this helps.
