When reading through some of the Tek-Tip threads, I periodically see a snapshot ('picture') of the data in question inserted into the thread. The snapshot maintains the original formatting of the data in question.

I haven't figure out how to do so and would love to receive some good suggestions. Let me know if you can help. Thanks in advance.

You can either do:

[ignore]
Code:
[/ignore][code]
Some text goes here
   second line
      third line
[ignore][/code][/ignore]

Or
[ignore][tt][/ignore][tt]
Some text goes here
second line
third line
[/tt]
[ignore][/tt][/ignore]

or
[ignore][pre][/ignore][pre]
Some text goes here
second line
third line
[/pre]
[ignore][/pre][/ignore]

Have fun.

If you click on the help "?" icon on the right of [bold]submit post[/bold] in the window in which you type replies or create posts, this will take you to the TGML help page. This gives you a comprehensive list of all of the various codes that you can use to enhance your post, including embedding objects (but there are horizontal size restrictions on this).

The two codes that Andrzejek showed you above let you enter (or more probably paste) programming code and fixed width characters respectively. The fixed width [ignore][tt] ..... [/tt][/ignore] codes allow you to lay out tabular information easily because every character is exactly the same size (including spaces).

Great solutions. Many thanks and appreciation to Andrzejek and softhemc for sharing the knowledge!
