I am a new Front Page user. I have some extremely simple questions. How do you use the interface to add a button (.gif or .jpg file)? Also, does FrontPage include a gallery of such images? How would I access them?
The only buttons that FrontPage has within the program is either part of themes or - hover buttons, which are not graphic buttons at all, they are Java Applets.
To insert a graphic button on your page, you would need to import the graphic into your web first. Then you can drag and drop it on the page from your images folder in the web or place your cursor on the page where you want the graphic and go to INSERT > PICTURE > FROM FILE.
In FrontPage 2002 there is a INSERT > PICTURE > CLIP ART feature that might be interesting for you. I haven't used it much, but you might find something that will work well for you there.
Since I posted the question I have found insert/web component/hover button. I realize that it is not really a graphic file, but it seems to work well. Is there a downside to this approach?
The downside to using the hoverbutton is unexpected results in Netscape. You might want to look at the Web site in Netscape first to see how the buttons look.
The version coming out will have a button feature like what you're looking for.
Another downside or two to hover buttons is that they are Java Applets, so they load slower and...anyone that doesn't have support for Java with their browser, or who opted to turn it off for security will not see your hover button.
