Insert picture into Oracle

Hi all,

I have been a DBA for almost 3 years now but never attempted this, and am almost ashamed to ask this, but here goes anyway!

How do you insert a picture, i.e. mypic.jpg in /tmp into a table into an Oracle database? I know I must use the LOB data type, but have no idea on how to do this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The only experience I have with loading images is through Forms, and this is done using the READ_IMAGE_FILE built in.

I'm not sure if it help....
