Insert BMP file into Access results in Package not BMP

How do I prevent an inserted bitmap file from being inserted as a 'Package' object rather than a bitmap image?
When inserted as a package into a bound object field in Access this means that only an icon can be displayed not the image itself.

trying copying the image and pasting it into the proper field. This worked for me on a few of my major databases. AFter pasting, the bmp is available in reports and forms.
