Here is my dilemma. Any and all advice would be very gratefully welcome.

Have an existing task (#1) which lasts for 10 days for Resource A who is allocated 100%.

A new task needs to be inserted (#2) which has a 4 hour duration for the same Resource A who needs to allocate the 4 hours (@100%) during the existing timeframe as task #1. Task #2 needs to occur on a specific date.

Any suggestions on how to insert this new task effectively.

My goal is to extend the elapsed duration of task #1 to accomodate the insertion of task #2 and ensure that task #2 takes place on the necessary date which will be driven by a predecessor.

Your help with this would be most appreciated.

What's the problem? Add the second task; enter the constraint (Must start on); enter the constraint date; assign the resource.

You could level manually or you could let Project do the levelling.

(Please tell me this is just a school assignment.)
