insall VLC with S10

I have downloaded the VLC player for solaris 10 and it keeps on complaining about ffmpeg, which I downloaded the package from and installed the packaged.

also set PKG_CONFIG_PATH=to/dir/ffmeg and it still does not work

./configure keeps on failing stating the ffmpeg needs to be compiled, which I'm not sure why it's stating that.

I am trying to creating a streaming audio/video server (mplayer is failing w/o much reasoning) using vlc and have been going crazy for the past few weeks to make it work.

Any ideas I'm all [bigears]
