Hi,

Using CR v8.5, I queried my real estate customer table, filtering for customer IDs that were attached to more than a single real estate parcel. I exported this output to an Access 2000 db to use as an input driver file in a followup CR query (not a subreport). My main data file is an Informix db table.

I was able to add the Access db in the second query, link the driver and main file on customer ID, and got the desired output. However, this second query took forever to run. Are there efficiency issues that I have overlooked? How do I tighten up this process?

Thanks.

Anytimee you link across different platforms you are likely to lose speed, because all of the work has to be done in Crystal - the database can't help out much.

You sure that you can't do all of this in one report from Informix?

Thanks for responding. I expected some performance degradation across the platforms, just surprised that it was so significant. You are right in questioning if this can all be done in one report from Informix. I think it most likely can but being initially unsuccessful in that approach, I was fairly certain that the driver access db approach should work.

Basically, all the report data is contained in a single table. What I need to do is identify all the customer accounts (IDs) that are attached to multiple real estate parcels. Having done this, the criteria for outputting detail becomes parcel count per Customer ID > 1.

So, I have passed the data for a given customer, generated a count, now I need to output parcel specific information from that data that I just passed. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Group by Account, count the parcels per account and put a subtotal in that does the count of parcels per Customer ID. Use this subtotal in the select expert to add a group selection formula in the main report. The formula will look something like this:

Count ( {parcel},{Accont}) >1

Then you will only see records in CR that have more than one parcel.

Aha! The old Group Selection Formula technique! Thankyou Ken for pointing me toward the light!
