I have a DTS which I migrated from 2000 to 2005. It did not migrate 100% correctly. I have 2 columns which do not have the correct size. I am coming from a flat file and going into an ACCESS table. The input flat file is broken down into 20 fields. I can see field 9 and 11 have the wrong sizes. I can't seem to find where to change the sizes. I went SHOW ADVANCED EDITOR on the input file and then there is a tab for INPUT and OUTPUT Properties. When I click on the tab all I see is Flat File Source Output. There is an external and output columns under that heading.
There is nothing which states INPUT. I tried changing the size of the OUTPUT COLUMNS and that changed. When I tried changing the EXTERNAL columns, it keeps reverting back to the original sizes. Am I doing something wrong ? With the OLD DTS, I would have fixed this in 15 seconds. It has now been 2 days. I am updating using Studio. Is there a bug ?
Thanks

The inputs will be defined in the connection manager as opposed to the flat file source data flow component.

In BIDS (Visual Studio) there is an area for the connection managers below the development area - double click the relevant flat file connection, select 'Advanced' and it will let you set the data types and sizes for the input

THe External Column you can't change. It gives you the info on what the underlying source is. You should be able to set the column width using the output properties.

Paulkeys,
I guess if I took a class in this, then it would help. :)
I made the change, tested and done already. I should have posted this yesterday!! I only have another 200 DTS's to migrate. :-( I am sure I will be needing to do this all over the place. It looks like this new stuff is way more powerful than the old DTS's. Do you suggest a class or should I keep fumbling. We use DTS 99 % of time to just load a table from a flat file or visa versa. We do not get exotic with it.

Thanks a million.

There are lots of good reference books available for ssrs - wrox press etc. For the non-exotic stuff these should be more than enough
