Input Port Not working can i still use Hub? 1

I have my router going into a hub in another building.. The inport port on the hub is broken and I was wondering.. Can I put the hub in the crossover mode and use a crossover cable to go from the router to the hub then use crossover cable on the maches that connect to this hub?

Would this work. Tring to make use of a hub that has a bad input port.

a crossover cable between two hub/switch ports will act as an uplink.
