hmmm...try setting a style in the input box:

Addendum to my question above:
In one browser, the box extends to the middle of the div. In the other, it extends well past the middle of the div.
Both browsers are IE5.x but slightly different release as in 5.0029.00etc...

I suppose you can clip the div-block.
e.g
{
clip:rect (top | right | bottom | left)
}
where top,right,bottom,left are the values for the clipped rectangle. ---
