Iseries database

The user has lists of 100 or so serial numbers that need to be input into a report, this is something they would like to do regularly. Inputting them one at a time is time consuming, I had tried linking an excel spreadsheet with the serial numbers to the database tables but the report ran very slowly or did not respond.

Is there any way to import the list or is there a better way to link it? The user would normally access the report via crystal server but I may be able to get them a copy of designer if that is the only way.

Thank you

The best solution probably would be to import the data into a database (MSSQL Express). Of course anytime you have multiple data sources, Crystal performance can be affected.

You can create a separate command to get the data from the excel file. Create a multivalue dynamic parameter and use the command as a list of values. Do not use the command anywhere else in the report to avoid slowing it. When the report is started the user will see the standard parameters' dialog and will be able to move serials between left (available) and right(used to filter data) list boxes
