I regularly download information from a program into Quatro-Pro, then import it from Quatro-Pro into Paradox (The original program cannot export directly to Paradox). Unfortunately, the date fields export as text fields (with the format ##/##/##) and the program will not export it in any other format. I do not have a problem getting this into paradox as a date field, however, all 2000 dates convert to 1900. I appreciate any suggestions/information.

It sounds like you are using an early version of PDOX. Since most versions of QPRO correctly handle dates well beyond 2000, couldn't you convert (or format) the dates in QPRO prior to importing them into Paradox?

PDOX may read 01/01/00 as 01/01/1900 but it will read 01/01/2000 correctly.

<a href= plain black box
I have version 8. and yes, I tried to reformat the dates in quatro pro first, but apparently the way they download makes it impossible. Our MIS department is working on a macro (they say!) that will hopefully take care of the problem.

Obviously you are not familiar with our MIS department. LOL. They send the entire agency (2000 employees) to me (I work in Human Resources)for any and all paradox questions!

I wish I could provide better help here but my experience lies in the more primitive Paradox versions. It would be a simple matter write a small script designed to scan the table and make the corrections in the date field.

Knowing almost nothing about the version 8 capabilities, I'd better keep my mouth shut.

P.S. I appreciate the nature of your position. MIS once refered all Paradox questions to me... until they decided to dump Paradox and move to MS Access. Fortunately, I was blissfully ignorant about the latter. <grin>

<a href= plain black box
Why don't you add an extra field to the qpro-output and to the paradox table? This field can have the fixed numeric value 100 for date-values in 2000 or the value 0 for dates in 1900..

After the import in paradox you can use a script with a scan-loop to add the 100 year to the dates to convert all dates to 2000-dates.
