My server is running SBS 4.5. Compaq Prosignia 200.

My backup failed on 1/4/01 because the D: drive is unaccessible.

I attempted to access the drive on the server and got the message: "D:\ is not accessible. Error performing inpage operation."

I attempted to run Disk Administrator but is hung on Initializing.

When I attempted to access the drive from a workstation I got the exact same massage as the one above.

Questions:
a) What does the message indicate?
b) Will rebooting the server correct the error?
c) Is ther a risk that the server may not be able to reboot because of the message (System files are on C:)- C: is the second partition on the drive, D: is the first partition)

Thanks for the help!

I am having a simular problem. I get the "Error performing inpage operation" message when trying to access my D drive. It is a seperate drive and not a partition of C. I am running Windows 2000. It does not recongize the file system. I cannot get into it at all. Nortons cannot see it also.

If you can help let me know.

Thanks

BillyL, I solved it. I know it has been awhile since you posted, but I will post the fix for you anyway.

First boot your computer using your install CD or boot disk and select the repair option. On the next screen select C (I forgot what C stands for). This will bring you into a command prompt. You need to run check disk (chkdsk /r d:)
Let this program run. It took almost 3 hours for my fix. Hopefully you will have the success that I had.

Good Luck

I also had this problem and tried the fix with the 2000 disk. This didn't work. I went to a command prompt in Win2k and typed chkdsk /r d: and it ran the chkdsk and restored the file. It took about an hour to run.
