Our company just installed Domino 6.5. We use the INotes web client to check our mail. But I prefer to use Outlook 2003. But so far the only thing I can do is read my mail. Here are some things that I cannot do. When I delete a message outlook puts a line across the e-mail, but it never gets deleted. When I go to my INotes web client the mail I deleted is still there. How do I delete an e-mail from outlook and make it delete from my in box? Another problem I have is, after I setup rules in outlook to move certain mail to junk mail, in Outlook the mail goes to junk mail folder. But when I go back to my INotes web client the mail is still in the inbox. We you to have Groupwise, and when ever I did something in Outlook 2003, it was effected on Groupwise. What am I missing?

Shaminda -
I need to catch up to where you are - I need to use Outlook to open a Notes mailbox. So far I've found several ways to generate error messages. How did you configure outlook to get where you could open Notes mail ? I've got a visually impaired customer and the Notes client just isn't very graceful dealing with Text reader software. Outlook appears to better, if I can get it to connect.

Fred,
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Here’s how you open Notes on Outlook

Select Tools -> E-Mail Accounts
Under E-Mail check “Add a new E-Mail Account”
On the next screen under ‘Server Type’ check “IMAP” and press next
The next screen you have to enter ‘Internet E-Mail Settings (IMAP)’
Enter the IP address of the mail server (Domino or iNotes) for ‘Incoming mail server (IMAP):’ and ‘Outgoing mail server (SMTP):’. The rest of the screen should be straight forward. Then press Next.

From what I understand on your mail server, IMAP has to be turned on. I only have access to internet mail. But if your users have iNotes client installed on their computers, Microsoft came out with an ad-inn. Here is the link:

Thank you Shaminda, I'll give it a try - looks plausible, if IMAP is enabled on our Domino servers. I'll find out tonite!
