When we download and install updates the server work well, but the clients don't do any update.

We get the error-message in the log files (Event-Log):

Version information not found for update (English-NTINTEL) on (NTsrv1)!

I don't know what happened on my network, but before something happened the distribution worked well and without any scripts! My question is, why could my NT-Workstations never see the new update on the master-server? How works inocluate while it distributes these updates to the clients? Must I search any networkproblem in messaging? On my master-server i opend all rights for all users on cheyupd$. I can't find out, why they don't see that there are the new signaturs in \\ntserv1\cheyupd$\english\ntintel\ready.

any help?

Just nuke the c:\inoculan\gbbsdata\english\ntintel directory and the c:\inoculan\update\english\ntintel\ready directory and re-run the autodownload

Hello Mr. EvilOptic,

we've got still InoculateIT 4.53 SR1a in use. After changing the admin password at the virus signature distributing server I found, that only some machines are still getting updated and for the others I got the above mentioned message.

Deleting the directories at the server like your tip didn't succeeded.

Any further ideas? Thanks a lot!

Hi,
Experiencing the same problem. Seems to be related to W2K SP4 or other security patch.
Opened an incident with CA to no avail. Their overseas support is puzzled.
Just my 2 cents.

Hello together,

fixed my problem:

I entered in the services section the new login/password-combination for the administrator for the InoculateIT service -> that works now properly.

Haven't known that this is needed...

Best regards,
Arnold Schnermann

I did the same-- entered the Domain Admin login name/password for the InoculateIT service on the master server.
Stopped service & restarted it and the clients still can't get signatures-- same message
"VERSION INFORMATION NOT FOUND FOR UPDATE"

No I didn't-- I have 100 nodes.
I just uninstalled the W2K Service Pack 4 on the master and everyone started working again.

Incidentally, someone from CA called me (4 days later, and from India of course), responding to my emails, and the dude told me that yes- its a problem with SvcePk4, no- there is no fix for it, and no- there shall not be a fix. CA is soon discontinuing support for 4.53 and will only support it thru W2K SvcePk3 and that's that. They don't want to bother with this issue. The option they recommend is that it's time to upgrade InoculateIT.
