I have a (standard?) Xerox Phaser 8550. By mistake I purchased ink on Ebay that is for the METERED Phaser 8550. I have been told by Xerox that the ink is exactly the same for both of them, and only the shape of the ink cubes differ. Is that accurate according to your experience? I do not want to use the wrong ink in this machine but if the ink (once melted) is exactly the same, I'm willing to alter the shape so that it will fit through the shaped openings and I can use it.

It is the holder that is different, hence a different shape of the inks. There is nothing in the ink that signals a meter, just the ink melter. ayou can carve the ink to fit, but do not try it with any other models inks.
