Does anyone know how to initialize or compact a database in ArcServeIT ver. 6.61? We are running low on hard drive space for the database, so we need to run this utility to gain more hard drive space. We are having many problem also with the program. If someone who knows a lot about this program could contact me, I would greatly appreciate it.

in the arcserveIt directory there is DBMGR.EXE
this utility checks, repairs, packs, and initializes your database.
HOWEVER, if you data base size has grown to over 400-500 mb there is a specific procedure that you have to follow, FIRST! It on the arcserve site or I can e-mail it to you.
If you database is under 400-500 mb then that utility should help.

Please let me know what I need to do first before I run this procedure and send me the website for ArcServe. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

the process is basically to inialize the database using the utility in database manager and then deleting several files that are causing the problem and finally running the regular database maint options.

if you are having problems, i would suggest calling tech support for arcserve and telling them how large your database is...they can walk you thru the procedure the first time.
