I am installing IDS 7.31 on SCO Unix 5.0.5. I have already created the partitions to be used as chunks for my dbspaces and owned by user informix. After installation, I ran oninit -isvy to initialize the rootdbs dbspace on my first partition. The initialization process seems to go smoothly BUT when it reaches the following:

Initializing log/checkpoint information....

,without any error, it just goes to the unix prompt.

What seems to be the problem? Did I miss any critical steps during installation?

Pls help. Thanks

Hi,

Would you please post the output generated by:

oninit -iv

and the message log too.

While initializing the rootdbs, I feel you need not supply the -s switch for the oninit.

Thanks, for your reply.

I checked the online.log and it seems I forgot to include the sqlexec service in the services file. What seems to be the connection between the sqlexec service and log/checkpoint information??? Anyway, after I edited the file, the oninit initialization process completed!

You're right about -s switch. It just leaves me in quiescent mode.

Thanks!
