Initializing Drives

I would like to send a command to initailize my drives in BE 8.6 before every job is run so that BE knows what tapes are in what slots. (Faststor22 with barcode) Does anyone know if you can use the before and after commands to do this and if so what is the command?, and if not is there another way?
