Hi,

I have physically installed an integrated merlin messaging 1.1 card into a Merlin Magix system.

The old voicemail system that we were using was an external ESI Voiceworks 16 that lives on 770.

My questions is how can I set it up so that I can start programming the Merlin Messaging but continue having the Voiceworks as our live AA until enough programming is done to do a cut over.

I am technical but pretty much a novice to Merlin systems so as much detail as possible would be greatly appreciated.

Try putting the VM ports into another calling group, and set that group as Integrated VMI. That should allow you to dial the calling group and be answered by the Merlin Messaging.

Dovcamp,
Don't forget to change the VM ports in the Magix to "rotary". Also adding it to your LAN can make the admin programming a snap..

Mike

Thanks for the information.

TouchToneTommy, do you mean to take ports that are currently assigned to the Voiceworks and put them into another group?

No, leave the voice works as is, so your users can still access their messages by dialing 770. Put your Merlin Messaging ports in 771. Later, you can swap 770 and 771 through renumbering, although anyone with an inside autodial button for 770 will need to reprogram it, as it will change to a 771 autodial button when you renumber.

Ok, but how do I know what the port numbers are for the Merlin Messaging, or do I make them up and just set them up as integrated VMI and Rotary?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this.

What cards in in your system?

List them in the order they are in there.

Also, what are your extension numbers?

We are using 2 digit extensions:

Here is the order of the boards:
Processor w/CKE5
800 ICLID - GS/LS ID
52 412 TDL - LS-ID
016 ETR
Merlin Messaging

under Maintaince, press port, station, dial "*0401", enter, status. This will give you the extension number of the 1st VM port. Now press Next, and you will see the next VM port. Do this for all the VM ports that you have a license card for.

Merlin Messaging turned out to be on Board 5, but I figured out what the VM Ports were.

I set up the first Port of the Merlin Messaging on Group 771 and I was able to access the VM system! However, Merlin Messaging took over as the live VM system so I had to quickly switch it back.

Is it possible that 771 was already being used on our system? How do I create a new group, say 772?

Thanks for your great help,

Dov

Thanks you all for your great help. We cut over to the new voicemail and besides 1 anomoly, which I will post in a separate message, everything is working great!
