Infostealer Virus

Hi

I keep getting a Norton Antivirus alert saying it has found and deleted a virus called infostealer. when I click ok it comes back a few seconds later.

i also suffereing from pop-ups and system unstability i.e. everything disappearing from the screen and having to restart the computer.

Can anybody help with this problem?

Feel your pain. Had the same infostealer alert pop up on my Norton Internet security (insecurity?) as well. I thought something like Webroot's Spy Sweeper would do the trick; bought it and it did very little. Then I found this article and started going through it:


The best thing I did (which got rid of the infostealer alerts) was to run PandaSoftware's Active Scan ( but I also downloaded and ran the other freeware programs as suggested in the article. I stopped just short of running any trojan-ware products, since I stopped getting the warnings.

I think you would benefit greatly from this. Sounds like you might be fairly heavily infected. Good luck.
