Informix ODBC

I've got my self totaly confused about setting up an odbc link to the infomix server not least because this is the first time i have used a unix machine.

I've downloaded the odbc driver from IBM and i've read thread179-630445 and thread876-409375.

The files $INFORMIXDIR/etc/hosts and services didn't exist so i created them and entered the data as directed.

(Are these files supposed to already exist and therefore have i got the workgroup version rather than Dynamic Server? How do i check to see which version i have?)

Hi Hugh,

First the file you need to change is not $INFORMIXDIR/etc/hosts - it is $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts
This file manage the connections via odbc.

To check the version should work out with onstat -. Ihope that workgroup is the same than IDS.
