Hi there,

Have you guys seen the following problem before?

Environment:
Informix 9.21 TC5 is installed on Windows 2000 SP3 and a third party tool is installed on the same machine which has nothing with Informix but it may use ODBC. Both service is running.
All test were done on the same machine.

Fact:
1) After one day or so, no new connections to Informix can be successful whether using SQLEditor, dbping, ILogin, dbaccess. Not time out message comes back from SQLEditor, everything seems hung there for ever.

2) No error message is shown in Informix errorlog

3) But an existing connection from SQLEditor created in the very beginning works fine even after the problem happened. Seems IDS engine works fine. Just no new connections

4) When the problem happened, we had a tool to monitor the TCP connections, we saw a TCP connection from SQLEdito was successfully established, but IDS just could not respond to the request. We tried SQLIDEBUG, seems no message back and forth between SQLEdior and IDS when the problem was reproduced

5) Using SQLEdior on the stuck machine can successfully connect to a remote healthy IDS server.

6) Tried to start IDS on another port other than 1526, the problem still reproduced.

7) When the problem happened, only restart Informix Service can recover.

8) But if we do another test just running Informix without starting the third party tool, everything is fine.

Question:
1) We are not sure if the third party tool (which must use networking) has something with Informix. But even it has, why restart the third party could not recover when the problem happened but restarting Informix can solve this problem.
2) We still can see new TCP connections established, seems TCP is OK
3) Is this an Informix known bug? We couldn't see any error logs in Informix

Can someone help me here?

Thanks

Peng
