Informix database backup on AIX

Anyone familiar with how the ONTAPE & ONBAR backup utilities for the Informix database work?

Does the ontape & onbar backup utilities supports any tape devices for backup purposes, as long as the AIX supports the device?

If I have a new tape drive (eg. the new LTO drive) installed on my server,can the ontape and onbar utility make use of it to backup the Informix database?

I read also that the ONBAR utility works with the database server and storage management server, should the support of the tape device determined by whether the storage management software can make use of it?

You should call your vendor to make sure

third question, Im not sure i have not used ONBAR sorry.
