Hi,

I have heard that if an information store gets too large Exchange 5.5 can suffer with problems. Has anyone encountered this and what sort of size Information Stores do people have out there?

Any comments regarding this and Exchange 2000?

Best wishes

Michael

In 5.5 Standard the limit is 16GB. In Enterprise the limit is "unlimited" but NTFS limited to 16 Terrabytes.

In E2K you can have 20 Mailbox stores on a server with Enterprise and each are unlimited. Standard E2K also has a limit of 16GB though.

FWIW - I've heard of 255GB but that is crazy to run utils against. Stay under 30GB IMHO. Dan

Thanks for that Dan.

The references you make to Enterprise, are you talking about OS Enterprise or Exchange Enterprise?

The reason for the question is because we are going to have to move an Information store that is about 10gb on to our server that has an IS of 13gb. We were playing on spreading this load between our 3 Exchange servers. Unfortunately they were set up as different sites and organisations. We wanted the mail to come into one server and then send it to one of the other servers where the users would log into.

Is this a good idea with e5.5, if not how easy is it to upgrade to e2000.

Thanks once again for your help.
