Information store not backed up

It looks to me that the information store stopped backing up data a few months ago. It never gave nay kind of error and when I looked at the job it said it was set. My harddrive crashed and I lost the information store As soon as I setup a new information store the exchange client for veritas worked and then backedup the information store. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them.
