Help! Our information store drops during the day. The only way we know it is down is when users report that they are getting a message that they can not connect to the Exchange server due to network communication errors. When I check the server, the information store and often the internet mail service is stopped. When you check the application event log you see several messages, the main one being that Exchange can not write to the edbtemp.log file because file is write-protected, misconfigured or corrupt. Error code is 1032. The other error tells you that the information store has been stopped with error code 510. Restart the service to replay the log files.

I am not sure what else to check. It is Exchange 5.5. All latest security patches and service packs.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me. BTW...what does this edbtemp.log do anyway????? X-)

Error -1032 (0xfffffbf8) = JET_errFileAccessDenied
Event ID=510: Unable to write to the log file.

Are you virus scanning the exchsrvr folders? If so stop it :) Dan
