Information store backup.

Ok I have a question maybe some of you might be able to help me with. At work we need to configure an Exchange Information Store backup to enable document restore. Could someone please be kind enough to tell me how to go about doing this. As I understand this will give us capabilities to do a granular restore from our nightly backups and also may eliminate or compliment our weekly brick level backups.
We are using Netbackup and this is for Exchange 2003.
