Information needed about curves 1

I need information about the curves in Photoshop. I am experimenting with the curves but I am a bit lost. What is the EXACT logic behind the curves?

Here is a great article on Curves. I think a forum is too limited a place to describe in detail such a feature, but a google search for curves and photoshop will give you more info than you want!

It's a rare thing for me to use photoshop without using the curves feature no matter what the project may be.

Thanx... I use curves all of the time, indispensible, but when I saw that question I realized I had no clue about the science behind it. I learned some things from that article, too! of course, with Photoshop, I doubt one ever stops learning new things!
