Hi
I'm using a virtual directory hosting a couple of MS Word templates (*.dot). From within an ASP page I'd like the users to be able to open such a file, edit it and send it back, i.e. save it to the server under a unique name. I know how to tackle most of these problems, but I need to know if there's a way to pass ASP variables to this document (or to a macro in it).
When using the .dot files in a URL, they open in IE with the ability for users to change them (if they have Word installed). However, since the original templates should not be overwritten, I want to save them with a filename that depends on different ASP parameters (username, date, a special number, etc.) How can these be transferred inside Word? Is there a way to do this by using GET parameters in the URL for example (
After the file has been saved, I also need the filename back in the ASP page (for further file manipulation), so there should be a two-way communication between the ASP page and the Word template (if possible).
Any tips?
Thanks
