Hi all,

This is regarding Rollback thru Informatica, Suppose we have Normal loading, the commit interval is say 5, and the error occurs at record 8 . Informatica Server rolls back the data till around record number 6. If I need to reject all the incoming data even if I encounter one error then how can we do this thru Informatica? Well if the Commit interval is more than the number of input records then the entire rollback does take place, but what if the interval is less than the number of records?
Can anyone throw some light on this ?

Also I wonder what is the real advantage of Informatica over DTS, other than 'Cubes and Dimensions'??

Thanks

Buzzone,

I have used both Informatica, DTS, and several competing tools extensively.

Some Informatica advantages:

1. Much more scalable, higher performance.
2. Platform independent, runs on both NT and UNIX.
3. Native DBMS drivers, not proprietary ^%$#@!!.
4. Ability to handle Terabytes of data.
5. Industrial strength.
6. Decent debugging facility.
7. Runs on 64 bit processors.

I am sure that Informatica could add considerably to this list. I am equally sure that MS has arguments that their product is competitive.

For what it's worth, take a look at Gartner Group's Magic Quadrant for ETL tools.

On the other hand, simple tasks can be easily accomplished with DTS.

Hope this helps.

Charles
