InfoPath 2003 and InfoPath 2007 Issues

I have a InfoPath 2007 form that I have created for staff to use with email. The InfoPath Form has checked Boxes and Text Boxes with Borders which does not work in the InfoPath 2003 Version. The Check Boxes show up when the form is pulled up in InfoPath 2003, but it does not allow the user to use the Checked Boxes by placing a check mark or x in them. The Borders around the textboxes do not work either.
My questions is this, does Infopath 2003 allow the user to create CheckBoxes and TextBoxes with Borders? What are the differences in the funtionality of the two versions? If I create InfoPath 2007 Forms, I want these forms to work with updated versions of the product.
