InFocus projectors

Ive got a fine old InFocus IN34 projector in need of repair.
Sometimes it works, sometimes not. When its not, the bulb light flashes and no video.
Ive replaced the bulb and old and new bulb work in another projector without incident. So Im sure its projector.
InFocus seems to think its the ballast and since its fresh out of warranty, proly looking at a $350 repair bill.
Any ideas on finding a ballast and is it hard to replace?

Good leads.
But the more I dig, the more it seems likely its gonna cost no matter what. Plus, I cant find anything about the 'ballast' that infocus seems to think is where the trouble lies.
