Hi gang

I am doing the CCNA and am at the stage where I'm trying to start the Threaded Case Study. I am to work on "Sunny Slope" school, but, I am having real difficulty in making out the text that is printed on the maps on Cisco's CCNA curriculum website.

Does anyone have, or know where I can get my hands on, a better set of maps? Also if anyone can give me some guidance on the kind of layout and structure that Cisco want for the TCS documents that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Dattman

The TCS maps open up nicely in MS Paint. I assume you know to download them from the Index on the CNAP site.

I taught at a CNAP for a while and we really just wanted to see that some of the processes we had taught were employed. The best efforts involved the form of a company quote with:
1. A management summary of the requirements (to prove you understand what you are being asked to do
2. A good, clear wiring diagram without over-specification.
3. A simple, uncluttered logical diagram.
4. A technical documents listing the recommendations you are making, as if they are issues you have come accross during your assessmnet of the school. Just a simple bulleted list of issues and your proposed solutions to them.
5. A subnet breakdown (looks good on a spreadsheet)
6. A security posture document with 1 example ACL (perhaps write an example acl on a router and then print a 'show access-list' read out from Hyperterminal.
7. No silly powerpoint presentations with comedy graphics.
8. Good personal presentation skills. Getting the point across well in your presentation will count for a lot.
9. Pricing, on a spreadsheet. Don't stress about the prices being too accurate, its the methodology that counts.

I hope this helps, try searching by: 'TCS samples' on Google, there are literally hundreds with some good pointers. Just don't be too tempted tp lift one wholesale.............................

Thanks for your reply. As it happens my instructor got a decent set of maps for me - now the really usefull thing was your description of what it is that they are looking for. I felt like I didnt understand where my starting point was but now at last I can crack on with this thing... Thanks again for your advice.
