Info Path Forms

We have infopath form templates that are used on our sharpoint site but the way it is set up only people with infopath software loaded on there computers can open these forms. Is there a way to have people without infopath loaded on their workstations to be able to use the copy of infopath loaded on the server.

i think you have to have the office forms server. I was reading something on that on microsofts website. It may not be that product but they have an office server that will let you do that.

I have MOSS 2007. Are you saying that forms server is already built in?

The Office portion is what handles the forms. I believe it's built in.

I just don't understand this, but I thought the whole point of being able to publish these forms onto sharepoint was that other users would only need their web browser to enter the data in the forms. I've been playing around with infopath too and found they worked beautifully on my machine that had infopath 2007 installed, but did not work on other computers that did not, not even those that had infopath 2003 installed.

Is Sharepoint a necessary component for using Infopath? Can Infopath be used as a stand-alone?

My organization has expressed an interest in workflow automation but the whole Sharepoint ball of wax seems like more than we'd really like to commit to.
